Forums, topics and postings
The Threatened Bird Forums contain discussions about threatened birds that are organised by region (e.g. Asia) or by groups of species (e.g. seabirds).
A forum contains topics about a particular species (e.g. Blue-wattled Bulbul), or group of species (e.g. New Britain endemics), or issue (e.g. long-lining).
Postings are individual messages or comments made about a topic, submitted either from the forum web pages or by email – see below.
Navigate through forums by using the drop-down menu at the top of the page e.g. Americas: Caribbean: ‘Puerto Rican Nightjar (Caprimulgus noctitherus): downlist to Endangered?’, or by selecting a region or species group from the menu on the right hand side. You can search for individual species using the ‘forum search’ box in the top right of any page on the forum section of the site. A ‘cloud’ showing species under discussion is shown on the right hand side of each page – clicking on any name will also take you to the relevant discussion page.
Posting a comment
To add a post, type your comment in the box below the relevant discussion page and click ‘post a comment’. Please give your full name, and note that this is how you will be cited if we use the information in your comment to update the species factsheet and/or Red List assessment for the species. You must submit a valid current email address when you post a comment (but note that this will not be published on the website). This will only be used if a follow up to your comment is required. To receive alerts regarding the Globally Threatened Bird Forums please sign up using the form on the sidebar or via the pop-up.
It is possible to use basic html code to insert hyperlinks, bold text etc in the body of the comment text, however it is not possible to post attachments. If you want to share a relevant document such as a pdf, jpeg of range map, or a spreadsheet of data please send this via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org and an administrator will post this up on the discussion page on your behalf.
Please note that you will be able to view your comment once posted, but it will not be published and viewable to others until it has been approved by an administrator.
Adding a new topic
To suggest a topic not currently listed in the forum, send a reply to the discussion titled ‘Suggestions for new topics’. A moderator will assess the suitability of the topic and create a new topic if appropriate.
